Pete the Pumpkin and Friends

Imagine you are armed with this great idea you have found on pinterest for some halloween goodies, but the result doesn’t look as good as the picture (blogger problems), that’s how Pete the Pumpkin came about… Isn’t he just adorable with his cheesy grin, well marshmallow in this case…

Thank you to Cincy Shopper for this recipe for Pumpkin Rice Krispie that I found on pinterest…unfortunately we managed to make 6 mini ones before giving up and Pete came into existence. None the less I wanted to share how to make these treats as they make a wonderful addition to the spooky afternoon tea that Crackers Adventures and I created.

4 1/2 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal*
3 tbs Butter
283 grams Marshmallows (approx 1 1/2 Bag)
Orange Food Colouring (or red & yellow) color)
Mini fingers
1 Green Winder

  • Melt your butter in a large sauce pan over low heat
  • Add marshmallows and stir constantly until melted
  • Remove from heat
  • Add approx a splash of orange food colouring (or until you get a nice bright orange colour)
  • Mix in Rice Krispies
  • Form small balls into the shape of a pumpkin (Tip: Add Non-Stick Cooking Spray, we didn’t do this but I you might have better luck – or don’t if you want to create your very own Pete the Pumpkin)
  • Break mini fingers in half and add into each pumpkin while still warm
  • Cut small leaves from your Fruit Winder
  • Stand back and admire..

*Note: this is referring to an English cup size measurement
