I don’t know about you, but before a big event or special occasion, I always like to prepare. When we look good, we feel good. That’s why I always like to have a little pamper before big events or special occasions, to ensure that I look and feel my best. It’s not about crazy crash diets or anything like that; it’s about enhancing yourself to look and feel as amazing as possible. This is especially important if you’re part of an event or occasion. As when there are lots of eyes on you, you need to be confident. Something that looking good plays a big part in.
Focus on your skin
The last thing you want is spotty, red skin at a celebration or event, especially if there are going to be lots of photos. That’s why a few weeks beforehand, it’s important to start a skincare routine. This should consist of daily cleansing, toning, and moisturising, to ensure that your skin is healthy and happy. It’s also worth eating a little cleaner and drinking more water. This will help to protect your skin from sugar-related breakouts.
Once your skin is as healthy as possible, the next step is to consider getting a spray tan. If you don’t like looking pale, the best option is to fake tan. While you could go DIY with your tan, to prevent streaks, it’s best to get a professional spray tan. Just make sure to exfoliate and moisturise your skin beforehand, to get the best possible results. If you’re going to wax, it’s important to do so beforehand; else it can remove some of the tan. A great option, if you don’t want to wax yourself or go to a salon, is a mobile beauty therapy service that comes to your home to do your waxing treatments.
Get your nails done
While you could paint your nails yourself, normal polish has a tendency to chip. That’s why it’s best to opt for gel or acrylic nails, depending on the length of your natural nails. If you’ve got short nails (or are a nail biter like me), acrylic nail extensions could be the best option. Or, if your natural nails are in a healthy state, gel polish is a great option. This is much tougher than regular nail varnish – it should last at least two weeks without chipping.
Have a massage
If you’re tense or nervous about the event, you won’t enjoy yourself properly. A great way to calm your nerves is by having a massage the day before or morning of the event. This will help your mind and body to relax and become calmer so that you can enjoy the occasion or event. If you don’t have the time or money to schedule a massage, a hot bath with lavender oil, or a colourful Lush bath bomb can be just as effective.
Hair and makeup
Last but not least, it’s important to ensure that you have hair and makeup to be proud of. If you’re a pro with hairstyles and makeup application, you can, of course, do your hair and makeup yourself. However, it’s important to ensure that you practice beforehand, to make sure that you know what to do on the day. If you fancy a complex look that you’re not able to do yourself, consider hiring a makeup artist and hairstylist to do your hair and makeup for you. It will cost you but if it makes you look and feel good while at your event or special occasion, it’s worth it.
There you have it, everything that you need to know about beauty and pampering before a big event or special occasion.
