There is something delicious about taking some time out whether at the weekend or during the week, especially when there is cake involved. Afternoon Tea Week is one of my favourite times of the year; tea + cake + friends. But for the past week couple of years I’ve not managed to celebrate the week in the way it should, with afternoon tea. Not this year. This year I managed to get a date in the diary and a tea booked in.
Le Meridien Piccadilly was the tea destination at hand. Now I’ve been here once before but that was a little while ago now for their Unlock London Afternoon Tea and exhibition. It was where I first met fellow foodies, Binny’s Kitchen and Cake + Whisky. For me going for afternoon tea is a past time for spending time with friends and family, so that’s what I did and had a long over due catch up with another blogger friend, Hannah’s Happy.
After talk about her book, life updates, cats (and her dog), we eventually turned our attention to the tea and vast array of food served to us. The sandwiches were divine and the scones were by far some of the best scones I’ve had in while! The cakes were a little goey but by the time we got around to them but delicious nonetheless.
But the tea, the tea of choice was the highlight for me. In fact, I haven’t stopped thinking about the wonderful blend of White Tea, Rose and Fig. It was summery but with an autumnal touch. It was light and refreshing. It was all in all the best kind of tea to accompany the delicacy on hand.
I would highly recommend Le Meridien Piccadilly for afternoon tea! At the weekend they even do a Brunch themed afternoon tea (looks amazing)! Where did you go to celebrate the best week of the year (other than Christmas)? And if you didn’t go anywhere what did you do to celebrate?
