Brand focus: Dorothy Perkins

I don’t know about you but when I’m having a shopping browse (either in-store or online) I always find one shop where I have a basket that my wardrobe would only dream of. And at this present time it’s Dorothy Perkins and it’s all down to Dainty Dress Diaries and her instagram story snaps when she was off out in a new number that I fell into the rabbit hole of wanting EVERYTHING. (I’m not going to lie my bank account did see a dent…)

But this inspired me to share my top finds, the things that perhaps I couldn’t justify to myself but might be the perfect addition to your wardrobe.

Warning. Before you scroll through this post, you will find a browsing urge – who am I kidding, a shopping urge… but the good news there is up to 30% off on selected lines!

First up, the dress that caused the spending spree. There are a number of reasons why I follow Catherine, from her DIYs to down to earth stories on the insta, but mainly because she’s petite. I mean, this blog has it’s name for a reason! It looked gorgeous on Catherine and whilst I still await the delivery of mine, I can see this dress being comfortable and versatile whilst adding a pop of colour to welcome the warmer weather (if it should grace us with it’s presence again).

Red Floral Print Tie Skater Dress, £35 £28

DP is my go to for jeans, but more recently something else has been catching my eye. Their bags. From Chanel boy dupes to clutches and shoppers, the collection is lustful and endless. Speaking of dupes, Dorothy Perkins has expanded their colour collection and now includes an embroidered one – to die for! Straw bags have been doing the rounds online but I love the colour block and shopper style of this one, great for at home or abroad.

Embroidered Chain Cross Body Bag, £25 £17.50 / Chain Shoulder Bag, £25 £17.50 / Multi Coloured Wooden Hoop Handle Beach Bag, £25 £20

But let us take a moment for the mini Mary Poppins bag which grabbed my attention in store last weekend. Getting an over-the-shoulder style with a zip seems to be impossible lately – and typically that’s the style I want – but this bag instantly found it’s way onto my arm heading for the till. What’s more it comes in more than one colour; black, blush, khaki, tan and my colour of choice, navy. It looks effortlessly chic and it’s surprising what you can get in it! Dress it up or down. For summer or the cooler months.

Navy Zip Bucket Bag, £19 £15.20

I’ve been hunting for a dress for a black tie event (and hopefully other events in the calendar) but whilst I was on the look I found this gorgeous yet simple red one shoulder dress with frill detail. With a pair of simple black heels this dress is effortless, or go for the black with a pop of colour in the accessories.

Red One Shoulder Ruffle Pencil Dress, £35

A girl can never have too many tees in their wardrobe. You can dress them up or just lounge about in them but here are my top three and how I would style them… Firstly the ivory embellished tee. Whilst being simple in colour why not add a pop of colour with a pink trouser? Suit it up with some snazzy trainers or dress it down with the Frankie pink ankle grazers.

Ivory Embellished T-Shirt, £16 £11.20 / Red Stripes Aloha Motif T-Shirt, £16 £11.20 / Ivory Slogan T-Shirt, £12

If you know anything about me, you will know that I love a striped tee. Team it with a slogan and bingo you have a must have wardrobe essential and at only £16 £12 why wouldn’t you? Team this Aloha motif tee with black skinnys, your beach bag from earlier and some white converse and you have an effortlessly chic outfit. Or switch the skinny jeans for a suit for a on-trend look.

Finally, I have saved my favourite until last. The fabulous Hannah Gale posted this Zara skirt on her insta a few weeks ago and I would love to see this slogan tee paired with it as a combo. And finish it off in true Hannah style with a blazer – how about a pink one to add to the collection?
